An alert was issued on April 3 as investigators seek the public's assistance in locating 35-year-old Devone Articis Hall, who has no fixed address, following a Lexington Park attack inside an area home that left two people injured, one seriously, officials say.

Deputies from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office were called shortly after 12:30 a.m. on April 3 to the 46000 block of Midway Drive, where there was a reported altercation involving Hall and at least two others.

Investigators say that Hall allegedly used a sledgehammer to strike two people inside the home during a confrontation, leaving one with serious injuries. He then left the area before deputies could arrive at the residence.

Hall was identified as the suspect following the assault, and he is now wanted by the sheriff's office. He is described as being 5-foot-6 with a thin build.

"Due to the nature of the assault, detectives caution that Hall may pose an immediate danger to the public," officials said. "Individuals are urged not to approach him and to immediately contact 911 if they encounter him."

The sledgehammer assault remains under investigation.
